Vocational Training and Transition Program
ACCEL’s functional curriculum includes developing job-related skills, daily-living skills, and social skills. ACCEL provides coordinated, progressive vocational training and transition programs for students that are designed to promote movement from school to post-school activities. These include job-skill training, employment (including supported employment), independent living, and community participation.
The program is based upon the individual student’s needs, taking into account the student’s preferences and interests. Following the development of employment and other post-school adult living objectives, vocational programs are designed and may include instruction, related services, community experiences, and when appropriate, acquisition of independent living skills.
Along with vocational assessment, interest inventories and interviews, students learn to evaluate their strengths and set realistic goals for the future.
