Model Classroom Program

ACCEL’s Model Classroom Program® assesses the skills of teachers in both regular classroom settings and self-contained classrooms that serve students with autism and other developmental disabilities. The Model Classroom Program® assessment tool identifies training needs for school or local organizations responsible for monitoring teacher performance.

This direct classroom and interview based assessment acknowledges the complexities of various instructional settings and teaching methodologies present in school systems. This assessment tool integrates evidence-based components, including the principles of applied behavior analysis, structured teaching, effective instruction, classroom management, and a functional curriculum. The Model Classroom Program® assessment uses a 3-step method to assess a teacher’s skill and effectiveness. This includes direct observation of teacher behavior and classroom practice, documentation and data review, and a structured interview.
