ACCEL’s educational services emphasize functional skills to meet each student’s individual academic, therapeutic, vocational, social, and behavioral needs, thereby fostering independence. The day school program features ACCEL’s Functional curriculum which is aligned with Arizona State Standards, highly structured learning environments, small class sizes and a low student to staff ratio. Specialized curriculum programs are used to meet the academic needs of each student as indicated in their Individualized Education Programs (IEP). These include:

SRA Corrective Reading is a teacher-directed instructional program that provides intensive intervention for students who are reading one or more years below their chronological age.

Literacy Starters is a supplementary literacy program of high interest material that combines multiple types of text to improve literacy skills for a diverse group of learners.

The Star Reporter Program is an exciting theme-based curriculum developed by AbleNet. Students step into the role of newspaper editors, reporters, researchers, writers and photographers, where they are learning to socialize, interact and communicate individually in large and small groups.

SRA Direct Instruction Mathematics provides intensive support for students who have difficulty with mathematics by focusing on core content and breaking the content into a series of small conceptual steps and embedded skills.

PCI Adapted Vocational Curriculum supports the integration of functional academics with community-based vocational instruction, career exploration and training.

Think Social! A Social Thinking Curriculum utilizes the curriculum and worksheets developed by Michelle Garcia Winner to teach students about their own behavior, being part of a group, exploring language concepts, friendships and perspective taking.

Handwriting Without Tears is a developmentally-based curriculum that uses fun, entertaining, and educationally sounds instructional methods to teach handwriting.

Teach Town and DDT Trainer is computer-based academic instructional program specifically designed for students with autism.
