is running out! Give before April 15, 2012. An individual may claim a credit for making a donation to a School Tuition Organization for scholarships to private schools.  The maximum credit amount that may be taken for tax year 2011 is $500 for single, unmarried head of household and married filing separate filers and $1,000 for married filing joint filers.

You still have time to claim the credit when you file your taxes.

To donate to ACCEL online, go to wwww.topsforkids.com to fill out the secure form.

To mail a check, send it to: PO Box 41930, Mesa, AZ 85274, noting ACCEL in the memo line.  You will receive a receipt for tax purposes.

A research project at the University of Toronto aims to determine whether devices such as iPads and iPhones are effective in improving communication for children with autism and other disabilities. The study so far has produced positive results. “These touch devices are in some ways bridging communications deficits that students who are non-verbal and who have some kind of developmental disorder have,” professor Rhonda McEwen said.
