Provides speech and language services to developmentally disabled, dual diagnosed, students in school settings, collaborating with teachers and multi-disciplinary team in diagnosis and treatment plan as well as working on a consultative basis within the outpatient clinic as a resource in the assessment of augmentative communication needs by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, other duties may be assigned:
  1. Evaluates, remediates, and provides consultative assistance to professional staff and within the clinic setting to school districts and parents on speech, language, voice, augmentative students effective communication and eating skills. 
  2. Investigates case situations and presents information to multi-disciplinary team, teachers and other professional staff, on students/clients background pertinent to diagnosis and treatment.
  3. Helps students/clients respond constructively to intervention and treatment within the clinic and school setting, and to facilitate the transition back into the school district or other educational setting.
  4. Works directly in treatment relationship with students/clients, individually or in groups, in consultation with Speech and Language Supervisor, assigned teacher and Clinical Director and/or Education Director.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
B.A. with a minimum or three years experience and certification (temporary and/or basic, K-12) from the Arizona Department of Education in Speech and Language Therapy. M.S. or M.A. in Speech Pathology with Certificate of Clinical Competence or C.Y.F.

Speech Language Technicians


Identifies, evaluates, and treats speech and language disorders in students with physical, cognitive, and emotional/behavioral challenges through collaboration with teachers, parents and other related service providers. Therapist should be knowledgeable in the evaluation and treatment of receptive/expressive language, language processing, phonology, feeding disorders and augmentative communication technology.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.                Provide consultative and direct speech/language therapy services.

2.                Evaluate and write evaluation reports for students receiving services.

3.                Develop and implement individualized educational plans and instructional programs.

4.                Responsible for programming augmentative communication devices and monitors maintenance requirements for those devices.

5.                Participate in Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team (MET) and Individual Education Plan (I.E.P) meetings when appropriate.

6.                Participate in the individual education planning, collaborating with teachers as appropriate for each student to receive speech/language therapy.

7.                Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary team to implement therapeutic and educational programs.

8.                Provide ongoing and periodic evaluations of student’s progress, documenting progress with the same frequency as for all ACCEL students.

9.                Develop and maintain a professional relationship with parents/caregivers and inform them of the student’s progress.

10.            Submit all reports within designated time frames.

11.            Maintain an accurate record keeping system.

12.            Maintain attendance and hourly contact records for Medicaid.

13.            Submit Medicaid billing as directed.

14.            Comply with ACCEL policies.

 
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

 Candidates for employment must have a TB test (negative chest x-ray or skin test) performed or provide documentation of TB tests performed within three months of employment.

 Candidates for employment will be sent to a designated facility to undergo a drug-use test as part of the pre-employment process. From time to time, ACCEL will require employees to undergo drug-use or an alcohol impairment test on a random basis.

 
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s Degree in Speech-Language Therapy: valid Arizona Speech-Language Technician Certificate and Department of Health Speech-Language Pathology Limited License. Obtain an AHCCCS number for submission of Medicaid billing.


Occupational Therapists


Identifies, evaluates, and treats functional sensorimotor, perceptual, and fine motor deficits in students with physical, cognitive, and emotional/behavioral challenges through collaboration with teachers, parents and other related service providers.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.                Provide consultative and direct occupational therapy services.

2.                Evaluate and write evaluation reports for students receiving services.

3.                Develop and implement individualized educational plans and instructional programs.

4.                Supervises and monitors job performance and caseload of Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs).

5.                Participate in Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team (MET) and Individual Education Plan (I.E.P) meetings when appropriate.

6.                Participate in the individual education planning, collaborating with teachers as appropriate for each student to receive occupational therapy services.

7.                Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary team to implement therapeutic and educational programs.

8.                Provide ongoing and periodic evaluations of student’s progress, documenting progress with the same frequency as for all ACCEL students.

9.                Develop and maintain a professional relationship with parents/caregivers and inform them of the student’s progress.

10.            Submit all reports within designated time frames.

11.            Maintain an accurate record keeping system.

Special Education Teachers

Instructs students with physical, cognitive, and emotional/behavioral challenges by adapting and developing educational materials to meet the unique needs of students. Strives to ensure that students reach their full learning potential.

 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.                Develop and implement individualized educational plans and instructional programs.

2.                Provide ongoing and periodic evaluations of student’s progress and make recommendations concerning curriculum areas to be emphasized and required accommodations.

3.                Develop and maintain a professional relationship with parents/caregivers and inform them of the student’s progress.

4.                Maintain an accurate record keeping system.

5.                Provide supervision and direction to classroom aides.

6.                Implement behavior intervention techniques for classroom management

7.                Participate in MET and IEP meetings

8.                Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary team to implement therapeutic and educational programs.

9.                Comply with ACCEL policies.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Directly supervises 1 or more aides in the classroom and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.


EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s Degree minimum: valid Arizona Teaching Certificate with Special Education endorsement in the area being hired to teach.



Classroom Aides


Up to 12/hr DOE and Education, Up to 20 Holidays paid, sick accrual, medical, life, Optional Life/STD/LTD. Working with special needs students who are 3 to 22 years old.
